This week is OSHA’s annual National Safety Stand-Down, a week-long event designed to inform of the dangers and prevent falls for construction industry personnel, and Innovative is once again participating for the 6th consecutive year. Fall hazards and incidents associated with them continue to be a leading cause for fatalities and citations in the construction industry, with 320 of the 1,008 construction fatalities in 2018 being contributed to falls from elevation.

Innovative is built around a culture of safety for all of our employees, so this week we set aside time to refresh our staff and prioritize the importance of handling fall protection and prevention seriously. Our construction teams and staff in our SHARP certified manufacturing facility participated by engaging in a Fall Protection Toolbox Talk, as well as giving demonstrations on the proper use of harnesses, lanyards, fall protection systems, and other PPE designed to keep our teams safe when working at heights. This also was a great time to have a Q&A about fall prevention on our projects and what our team can do to ensure they are working as safely as possible.

Through the proper education, training, and use of PPE and safe working practices, falls can be avoided – a value that Innovative takes to heart. We use events like the Stand-Down to foster a culture of workplace safety, and look forward to participating for many years to come.
