Innovative Raises Money Against Domestic Violence
Men strutted around in high heels on Saturday, Oct. 27 for a good cause. “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” was hosted by New Directions Center, Inc. for domestic violence awareness.
Members of New Directions, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, Waynesboro Police Department, Middle River Regional Jail, Staunton Police Department and Augusta Correctional Center started the event off strong with a high heel relay. Each team raced to be the first to deliver their purse to the finish line.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office won back the championship as they completed the relay in the quickest amount of time.
This was the third annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. This year, the event raised about $3,500 and had about 100 attendees! All money raised went directly to services for victims of violence in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County. Innovative was proud to sponsor this event and we look forward to working with New Directions Center, Inc. again next year!
