Innovative Refrigeration Systems Inc. sponsored the Virginia Tech team for the WWRC Foundation Tailgate Throwdown at Basic City Beer Co.

The event benefited the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center Foundation.

The Tailgate Throwdown raised more than $13,000 for the WWRC Foundation.

The WWRC Foundation supports vocational and physical rehabilitation for people with disabilities who are entering the workforce and receiving services at the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.

“We are humbled by the outpouring of support from our community, especially the sponsors and tailgate team members,” said Anne Hudlow, executive director of the WWRC Foundation. “The funds raised from the event will go to support the programs at the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center. We are proud to partner with WWRC and offer assistance for vocational rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities in Virginia.”

Tailgates were thrown down by the Valley Hoos, Valley Hokies, JMU and VMI Clubs.

The VT team prepared a barbeque chicken slider and brownie. The Hokies competed admirably, but they were taken down by the JMU team and their rendition of chicken and waffles.

The event also featured a corn hole tournament and music by Everyday People, Kiz Carter, and The Strain featuring Sammy Shako.
