Project description
Innovative Refrigeration Systems was awarded an expansion project for a ready-to-eat, value-added facility in Union City, Tennessee.
We installed 10 of our popular penthouses, 16 Guntner evaporators with Innovative valve stations, 2 Evapco critical process air units, 4 Frick screw compressors, and 3 Frick evaporator condensers.
Of the 10 penthouses that we manufactured and installed, 2 are convertible, which means that the client has the option to convert their cooler space into a freezer space down the road.
We also installed an Allen-Bradley PLC control microprocessor that enabled HMI graphics with a full 3D animated system. This allowed multiple levels of alarms, including alerts via text and email.
Finally, the client chose to utilize our ePSM software package, which included a PSM training package.
The commissioning team had the plant up and running in only 6 days. After completion of the expansion, the total capacity of the facility went up to 1,584 horsepower, with only 23,000 lbs of ammonia charge. The customer can now blast freeze more than half a million pounds of product at a time.
