Project description
Innovative Refrigeration Systems was contacted by a major distributor of natural and organic foods to design, manufacture, and install an upgrade to their facility.
The existing industrial refrigeration system was Freon-based, and the client wanted to switch to a more eco-friendly option. To help them meet this goal, Innovative Refrigeration Systems designed a new ammonia/CO₂ cascade system.
The design included 11 of our popular mini penthouses, 4 screw compressors, and 3 reciprocating compressors. The components were housed in Innovative Refrigeration Systems skid packages, which were assembled at our Virginia manufacturing facility.
The assemblies were shipped cross-country to the Ridgefield facility, where our construction teams installed them. We also installed 7 hanging evaporators in the existing cold dock spaces, which tied into the new cascade system.
Our work brought the total footprint of the facility to 800,000 ft², and this upgrade/expansion took only 16 weeks, from mobilization to commissioning.
