In 2017, Innovative Refrigeration Systems won a contract for an expansion at an automated storage and retrieval warehouse in Macon, Georgia.
For this project, we were tasked with manufacturing and installing 9 penthouses on the top of the facility.
However, the fully automated facility is 130 ft tall–much taller than the projects we usually work on. As a result, we took the unusual step of building stands and installing duct work at ground level, before then lifting the units up to the top of the facility with a large crane.
Aside from the issue of height, the project was by-the-book. We installed a full ammonia refrigeration system with 2 low-stage compressors, 6 hanging evaporators, and 1 evaporative condenser. We also installed redundant evaporators for a brand new, 45 foot tall freezer room.
