Project description
We were awarded a contract to expand a facility that we had previously worked on in 1997 and 2000. In fact, the original ammonia system was one of the earliest contracts that Innovative Refrigeration Systems undertook, and was engineered by president Mike McGinnis himself.
The new contract was for a 16,000 ft² expansion of new cooler space with 5 new evaporators, in addition to the replacement of 4 existing condensers, and rebuilding of all existing screw compressors.
Most of our upgrades focused on increasing energy efficiency: we upgraded existing VFDs and installed some new ones, and also upgraded the air purger to an air and water purger.
We also installed our PLC system, which allows remote monitoring of the facility. We also replaced the controls on all compressors, adding features such as heat-trace monitoring, and increasing ease of service.
