Innovative participated in National Safety Stand Down on May 4th. This is an OSHA sanctioned event to bring awareness to the huge hazard of falls from elevation. Falls continue to be the leading cause of death in the construction industry. In 2014, 349 deaths in construction resulted from falls from elevation, which accounted for 40% of all workplace deaths in the industry. Fall protection is also the most cited OSHA violation in construction. It takes a team effort to provide and use fall protection safely and correctly.

Participation in the Stand Down included two additional Toolbox Talks and an inspection of all fall arrest equipment on each job and in the manufacturing facility. The Toolbox Talks touched on the topics of falls through holes and openings and more detailed information on fall restraint and fall arrest systems. The employees were shown proper inspection of a full-body harness, a lanyard, and a retractable lanyard. After the demonstration, every employee grabbed at least one harness, lanyard, or retractable lanyard and performed his or her own inspections.

Innovative and our employees were excited to participate in this event and continue our pursuit of being the safest company in the Valley, as evidenced by our 0.67 EMR. We will continue to partner with OSHA by participating in events like the Stand Down, as we work toward becoming a SHARP certified employer. Innovative is committed to the safety of our employees and ensures that Safety is always our top value!
