As the school year starts back up, career fair season is in full swing. Innovative Refrigeration Systems is looking for talented Spring 2020 graduates majoring in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, and Business or a related field. This month we visited:

  • Virginia Tech
  • WVU
  • JMU

Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s Engineering Expo (Sept. 10-12) was our first stop. We were there for Day 1, and met a great group of students many of whom would make a solid addition to our company. Our focus at this expo was on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students interested in design work. We also had interest in recruiting field engineers.

WVU

WVU’s Statler College Career Fair (Sept. 12) came next. Again our focus was on design-oriented engineering students. We met some strong candidates with an interest in relocating to Virginia, where Innovative is headquartered. We look forward to keeping up with these students as they approach graduation.

JMU

JMU’s College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) Career & Internship Fair (Sept. 18) and Campus-Wide Career Fair (Sept. 23-24) were our final appearances for September. Our goal at the CISE fair was the same as our goals at Virginia Tech and WVU; recruit primarily Mechanical and Electrical engineers. However, participated in Day 1 of the campus-wide in search of Business majors as well as engineers. We’re looking for Business and related majors to fill administrative roles.

At every event, our goal was to connect with highly talented upperclassmen and inform underclassmen about Innovative and what we do. That mission was a major success. Several new connections were made, and some students we met at previous events stopped by our booth as well. It was a pleasure talking with these students and getting a better understanding of their goals after graduation.

We were impressed with the highly qualified and highly engaged students of Virginia Tech, WVU, and JMU. Innovative will be back for future career fairs, recruiting soon-to-be graduates and developing rapport with the underclassmen we met this month.
